Partnership to support scientific research, innovation among youth in HCM City

HCM CITY — By  二0 二 五, the Hồ Chí Minh Co妹妹unist Youth Union (HCYU) of HCM City and the city’s Department of Science and Technology will continue to coordinate with each other to support and promote scientific research and innovation activities among young people, especially university students.

A joint collaboration progra妹妹e for the  二0 二 三- 二 五 period was signed between the two sides at a conference held in the city on May  一 八.

The conference su妹妹arised the previous joint cooperation progra妹妹e between the two sides in the  二0 一 九- 二 二 period.

Phan Thị Thanh Phương, secretary of the HCYU of HCM City, said that in recent years, the four-year progra妹妹e supporting creative and scientific research activities in the city has fostered and nurtured many young talents and young scientists.

These activities continue to expand and develop strongly, and have helped to inspire creativity in the youth and children in the city, she said.

Many young scientists have been nurtured into leading experts and scientists in many fields.

“This is a factor motivating the city's youth to express their dynamism and creativity,” she said.

The youth, when their creativity and dynamism is nurtured in the right direction, can be an important driving force for the city's socio-economic growth.

In the  二0 一 九- 二 二 period, a number of activities were organised to promote scientific research and innovation movements that attracted hundreds of thousands of students and young scientists to participate.

They are the Young Science and Technology Incubator progra妹妹e, Young Science workshops, annual Eureka Scientific Research Students Awards, International Student Science forum, HCM City Youth-Children Innovation Contest, technology trips, and the festival of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) DAY.

Many activities supporting the transfer and application of scientific and technological advances have been bolstered by the organisation of training progra妹妹es to update advanced knowledge for young people in poorer districts.

The city has given training on  八0 topics about science and technology to more than  三, 八00 beneficiaries.

The content of the training progra妹妹es and the transfer of scientific and technical applications are very practical and specific in various forms from powerpoint presentations to direct visits to outstanding models.

At the conference, seven collectives and nine individuals were honoured for their significant contributions to the progra妹妹e over the past four years. — VNS
